I guess I was still a little shit, right to the end. This was just a jumble of crap about stuff I'd seen in the papers that week, most notably that soldiers in Iraq were sharing a parody video of "The Way to Amarillo" and it was clogging up their internet. I still had a pretty low opinion of the army (probably just blaming the Iraq war on the troops and not the politicians), so assumed said video had probably been transferred straight from a DV video camera to a computer and emailed uncompressed. The soldiers then being impressed that it "sends really fast" on the high-grade military satellite internet, unlike their 56k connection back at home. The slow connection at home they blame on the fact their computer came from Tesco, without any understanding of the technical aspects behind it. Actually, every one of those soldiers probably knows more about computers than I ever will. Oh and the crap about "hoodies" (which non-scum call "tracksuit tops") was starting up."Hoodie" still referred to the garment and not the wearer, at this point, though. Hey, remember when the subhuman underclass who rule the streets by fear were called "ferals"? we ought to bring that back. It was an awesomely vicious (and true) insult. |
