A map of the Insanity Please world, which is basically the world of FF7 with a few changes, mostly the towns of FF6 scattered around it. I also added some fertile areas, which were barren rock in the original, and added a couple of extra deserts. There's also roads and bridges to make it driveable. This was created in RPG Maker MV, using the standard RTP World Map chipset (are they still called "chipsets", or was that a Miguel-ism?). Which is also a "reveal" that, yes, I'm working on a NEW RPG! The actual version will have the chipset for the world map heavily edited, I just made it with RTP to "get it down", and have a basis from which I could start mapping the towns and cutscenes.

Notes on some places of interest:
|
Narshe: |
Locke's hometown, and where the story begins! A place with a proud tradition of coal mining. The city centre will be like an 80's British city, the suburbs like a mountainous Belfast. Narshe is ruled by Shinra, but due to being remote, semi-openly maintains it's own military force. |
Nikeah: |
In the old game, this was just a small village, there was also a train station on the coast for undersea travel. In the new version, Nikeah is a port town from which to catch ferries and trains. |
|
Mobliz: |
Relm's hometown, if you've read the comic, you know what happens there! It's history is somewhat like that of Yokohama, only it remained "colonised" by lots of white people. |
Wutai: |
Yuffie's hometown. Next to a supposedly-dormant volcano which wakes up of it's own accord... possibly due to a magical curse. It's like a giant Kyoto. |
|
Fort Tamblin: |
This is a location in one of the "look how they massacred my boy" FF7 re-makes or extensions. But I decided to use it anyway. It will be either a Shinra garrison, or a museum. |
The Swamp |
This will be like an inhospitable salt-flat area. It used to be a huge ocean / lake, but became landlocked thousands of years ago and is mostly dried out-but it also gets refilled with rains / floods. A causeway / railway line was built through it. |
|
Midgar: |
The seat of the Shinra government. Unlike the FF7 version, this will be like a gigantic London. Only with one giant skyscraper and several mako reactors. |
Vector / Junon: |
The Imperial Capital of FF6, and Shinra's town-sized military base, are here combined. It's the world's second city, and home to massive weapons manufacturing and twisted scientific research. |
|
Albrook: |
Once called something else, it was the seat of a kingdom, which Wutai conquered. This was later "liberated" by Shinra. The city looks like a smaller Tokyo. |
Nibelheim: |
Vincent, Cloud and Tifa's hometown. It's like a very run-down Welsh valley town, only bigger. |
|
Jidoor: |
Aeris' hometown. There is a large military airport there. |
Figaro Castle: |
Where Edgar and Sabin are from. Edgar is the king, but is really a puppet ruler tolerated by Shinra. Figaro lost a war with Shinra, but the royal family stayed in power by feigning loyalty. Actually Edgar supports the Returners! |
|
Zozo: |
Taken over by Wutai, then "freed" by Shinra. It looks like a bigger and slightly-less-run-down Manila. |
Doma: |
Seat of the last independent kingdom in the world. They are friends with the Shinra empire... but for how long? |
|
Banora: |
Another place from a "look how they massacred my boy" FF7 spinoff / remake. I made it into the Kingdom of Mideel's second city. |
Mideel: |
A remote place deemed unimportant by Shinra, so they only keep a small garrison there. It's where the Returners' secret base is located. |
