This was based on "The Great Strikeout" at Livejournal, which led to the establishment of "An Archive of Our Own" later on. The main character is based on one of the affected artists, who was pretty bloody good. Doubtless the BBC would happily agree with the strike-out-ers, but earlier had mentioned one of her stories in an article and "outed" her as a writer of gay Harry Potter smut. As he parents were pretty devout muslims and were trying to arranged-marry her, she had to email them and beg them to cut out her name.
