Kind of an interesting one. I'm not in the least bit interested in this kind of extreme metal, I just didn't know about Lincoln's live scene until later on, and fancied some moshing. This was only £20, so I decided to go on a whim.
Through the Myspace page, I met a Japanese woman called Yasue, who came to Lincoln to crash with me the night before. She very nearly got a train to Linton instead, which is near Cambridge. Also her phone didn't work in the UK, so after waiting for a call for ages all day, I just went to the station and decided to sit there and see if she showed up. She came about 10 minutes later! Her plan had been to find an internet cafe in Lincoln and email me (hah, good luck). So that was numerous strokes of luck.
Anyway she became my girlfriend and we spent most of Deathfest eating each other's faces off. She loved the headliners, Vader, and had even visited the singer at his house in Poland and everything. After a lengthy relationship with long spells of the silent treatment in the latter part, we broke up in 2011.
BUT in 2009 and 2010 I visited Japan with her, and liked it so much I decided to move there. And the rest is history.
