UNDER CONSTRUCTION!! The many broken images and links are just plumb not available yet! Welcome to my list of Kansai-area (well, mostly Osaka) otaku bar reviews! There is a website that documents otaku bars, and several sites that document bars and resturants around Japan in general, but they are all aimed at a Japanese audience. Also a lot of smaller bars might not have a very prominent presence on Google Maps. One of the ones I regularly go to doesn't show up on Google Maps at all, unless you search for it's specific name. Still others are more otaku bars by the crowd they get in, or the associations of the staff, than because that's what they set out to be. Criteria Most of the bars on this list I found via looking for アニメバー or オタクバー on Google maps. Obviously, as I said, this ends up leaving a lot of places out, so several others on the list I know because I've visited them personally, and found them by the time-honoured tradition of just wandering about. That's what safe streets do for you, eh? Eventually I hope to visit everything on the list and review them all. Of course, I can't gaurantee they will still be open when you read this, but I'll do my best to keep on top of things. I'll also keep on the lookout for other ones as I wander about. My Google Maps searches turned up suspiciously few in Umeda. There must be more up there! Note on pictures My web host likes to "fix" "broken" links to things by simply linking to the next nearest thing it can find. This means that some not-yet-visited bars have photos of different ones on them. I've added the name of the photos alongside "gallery", so you can find out if the pictures you are looking at actually refer to the bar you are thinking of going to! Make sure the pictures you are looking at match the "expected" name. If they don't, it means that's actually a bar I haven't got any pictures of yet.
