Groundwork: The contact zone When coming out under fire it is important to have knowledge of the possible zone where the contact will occur. This is vital to ensure you have things such as an Evac route which is likley to be safe, A good MSR and a possible LUP which can easily be gotten to in a hurry. Theres nothing worse than starting to get out "Mum im gay" when your dad comes in and shuts the door behind him wielding a carving knife going "who wants cake?", if it comes to that you may as well just Do hari-kari yourself. Or there is always the option of a suicide bombing but I digress, your main intention is to survive of course. Main factors to consider when choosing the coming out zone are number of escape routes (This will probably be limited to doors and windows..only fools come out high up in a tower block). Possible ambush sites, Nearest Evac point (Ie, your/someone else's unlocked car) And proximity of heavy objects you can hurl at the enemy as you make your retreat.
This is a possible contact zone. Note the proximity of the enemy lair to escape route 2, In this situtation you should take care to ensure there will be no chance of ambush on route 1. Ideally initiate contact when all enemies are in one area. Intelligence of the contact area can mean life or death in the Coming out situation! |
